(Cleftlands)

[Ordo Sancti Alfredi] is a Latin order name meaning "Order of Saint Alfred". This name fits the meta-pattern of "Orders named for deities and saints" described in the August 2005 LoAR. Project Ordensnamen by Meradudd Cethin (http://www.sca.org/heraldry/laurel/names/order/Pattern.htm) lists many different orders named after saints, including St. Anthony (order founded 1381, Bavaria), St. Maurice (1434, Savoy), and St. Jerome (1450, Saxony).
