[Segdai] -- ". . . <Se/gdai> is the genitive (possessive) form of the name <Se/gdae>, where the slash represents an acute accent over the previous letter. <Se/gdae> was a relatively rare name, though we found an example of <Se/gdae> in 939, and of the clan byname <hua Se/gdai> in 1095-6. [1,3,4] However, <hua Se/gdai> is not the correct byname meaning 'son of Se/gdae'. The appropriate byname is <mac Se/gdai>. "
[ hui Niall] -- "Surnames that indicated clan membership came into use in Ireland in the late 10th century and became common in the 11th. [6] We have examples of this clan surname in the 10th and 12th centuries: [5] . . . Domnall H. Neill 963 Muircertach h-Ua Neill 1160"
