According to the paperwork: "I was able to find several examples of names from the15th Century that are present in Russian and Rumanian cultures. The examples are listed below. While not conclusive there is a correlation and given the influence of the cosmopolitan nature of the nearby Hungarian/Polish courts and the similar laguages, it is possible that a baby boy in Rumania in the 15th Century could have been names Boris.
Names that exist in both Russian and Rumanian cultures: Stefan, Vlad, Vladislav, Basarab, and Bogdan."
[Collium] -- According to the paperwork: "The surname is the Latin genitive case of the word Collis (m), which means hill or slope. Thus the meaning is 'of the hill or hills.' This is not a name I'm terribly attached to but it filled a need when I needed to be known by more than just Boris. I would like it to keep it just for consistencies' sake. The nobility in Rumanian, the Boyar class was well educated and many of the nobles in Vlad II 'Dracul' and Vlad III 'Dracula's' courts knew Latin. It is a bit of a stretch to mix the two languages. A viable alternative may be the locative Tirgovisteanu which means from the town of Tirgoviste, a town SE of Vlad III Tepes' castle."

Also according to the paperwork: "My new device design features two cantons. I have found no documentation that this is not allowed. The two canton squares are replicas of my two badges that I have either registered or are in the process of registering."

"The names "Isabel," "Galiano" and "de Valera" all appear in the Account Books of Isabel la Catolica, 1477-1504. The name "Ximena" is not listed in that source; however, it is an period alternate spelling of the name "Jimena." Other names listed in the Account Books of Isabel la Catolica using the alternate spelling include "Jimenez/Ximenes" -- of which Jimena or Ximena is probably a feminization -- and perhaps the best-known usage, that of Xerez for the city of Jerez (The Castilian pronunciation of a leading "j" and "x" are identical -- that of an aspirated "h" sound.) Ximena, the nice of Alfonso VI, was married to Rodrigo Diaz de Bivar, better known as El Cid, Spain's national hero, in 1074.

(Esct. Note: *Just a personal note* Also, the herald did a nice job in trying to get the permission to conflict. She was able to be a go between a squire and a knight who were no longer speaking to each other. Also, one of the gentles is in Iraq and no longer plays in the SCA, so to get this corrected would be difficult. )

"[Ulf Gudmarsson] 1418-1461-- Swedish name, 'the Wanderer." English byname that would have been used between 1300-1500. The time period for the names is compatible for someone from Sweden moving or traveling to England.
"SCA Registered names: Agneszka the Wanderer -- The byname 'the Wanderer' is ruled SCA-compatible and there is a period Polish equivalent. The Polish for 'wanderer/ is wendrownik, which appears under that heading in the SSNO in the name Stanek Wandrownyk, 1397 (LOAR 9/2002, Meridies)."

Device was returned. Please note, Client does not care if this is registered as Swedish, Danish, whatever, he just wants 'Ulf the Wanderer,' registered. It was suggested to spell it 'Ulfr.'
